Behind the Scenes of Adelaide Fashion Week: Celebrating Icons of Style and Creativity

Adelaide Fashion Week has always been more than just a fashion spectacle; it’s a celebration of the city’s unique fashion identity and the visionaries who drive its flourishing local industries in myriad ways. Sounds like the perfect subject for an unforgettable content shoot, right? Enter AFW Icons Only—a photographic collection spotlighting local figures who have made a significant impact in the local fashion industry or left their mark with their signature style.

Entrusted with creating the hair looks for the Collection shoot was the Clip Joint Creative Team—a carefully curated blend of established and emerging stylists which specialise in session styling for fashion, film, and event projects. Eliza Collier, renowned for her expertise in hair direction, led the team alongside Vanessa Dallocco. Together, they worked across a 12+hour day, curating hair looks for 17 individuals. Collaborating in the production process with stylists Chris Kontos and Philia Mangos Kefalianos, photographer Gretl Watson-Blazewicz, videographer Ben Golotta, and makeup artists Kelly Allison and Belle Quaglila.

Eliza says, “Collaborating with the wider creative team to create each hair look was such a dynamic experience—it was a seamless blend of creative direction and on-the-spot consultation with each talent. Our goal was to capture their unique style and let their individual story be told.”

evo products, a cornerstone in the Clip Joint Creative Team’s kit, were exclusively used to shape each icon’s look.

Selected for innovative formulas and superior performance, evo products ensured that every style stayed flawless throughout the day’s demands. Whether it was a sleek, minimalist finish or a bold, statement-making style, they provided the perfect balance of creativity and staying power.

The icons featured in the collection were a diverse group, representing Adelaide’s multifaceted fashion and cultural landscape. From renowned designers to media personalities, with credits to: Rebecca Morse, Paul Vasileff, Heather Croall & Nick Phillips, Travis Boak, Akuol Garang, Anna Vlach, Poh Ling Yeow, Jessica Dover, Uncle Mickey, Cristina Tridente, Rebecca Evans, Angela Condous, Chris Kontos, Mirella Romano, Samantha Costello & Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello, Lord Mayor Dr Jane Lomax-Smith and Clip Joint’s very own, Eliza Collier.

After a day of styling, Eliza seamlessly transitioned from behind the scenes to in front of the camera, where she was featured as an icon herself, exuding her distinct blend of elegance and effortless style.

The Clip Joint Creative Team is thrilled to once again take the stage as the Official Hair Partner for AFW, crafting the hair looks for hero fashion events, media moments, and official guest appearances. Follow the journey in real-time from 11-13 October with exclusive behind-the-scenes access on @clipjointsalon IG.
